"Our son has attended Little Scholar since Aug 2011, when he was 2, and we plan on keeping him there until kindergarten. We are extremely happy with the teachers, the program, and the other kids/families, and we recommend Little Scholar wholeheartedly. Maggie, Mitch, and their assistant teachers provide an outstanding preschool program in a small and nurturing environment. Little Scholar provides the level of exposure to outdoor play, imaginative play, and preschool education that you expect from a high-quality preschool. What we see Little Scholar also providing that makes it truly special is that they also do a great job building habits of good citizenship and kindness. The curriculum is probably best described as "play-based," which is in line with our overall parenting philosophy (and realistic given our active boy). The Millbrae children's librarian comes every other month for a visit, and one of the teachers leads a really great little music/dance class every Wednesday. There are various other enrichment events as well. The curriculum is always evolving and we have learned things from our son that he picked up at school! We are also just so happy with the community we've found in the other families whose children attend Little Scholar. The kids are smart, funny, well-behaved, and excited to get to school in the morning. The group is fairly ethnically and religiously diverse. We've made some great friends by getting to know the other parents in the group - all very normal, nice, smart, interesting people. This is a community of children and parents under the superbly, qualified leadership of Maggie and Mitch. "Our daughter has only been at Little Scholar for about 2 months now but she loves her school and her friends. She looks forward to going to school every morning. She was with a nanny for 2 years and was unable to adjust at a bigger school because she is a bit shy. But we had a great experience at Little Scholar and she was excited about school within a few days of starting. The adult to child ratio is much better than what we saw at other schools and our daughter felt comfortable and taken care of. Maggie and Mitch provide the right balance of warmth and love while teaching the kids to be independent. The kids play and explore, spend time with arts and crafts, music and dance and are very very happy. Our daughter comes home excited to read books and dance to music. The school itself is very clean (all children are required to wipe their hands before entering the day care) and our son rarely gets sick. They have done a great job with their house and it is very child-proof, I can’t remember my son getting hurt while attending the day care. “We highly recommend Little Scholar Preschool & Daycare in Millbrae, and we miss them very much. Our son started with them when he was 4 months old and grew up under their loving care until he was 3 years and 3 months old. We would have kept our son under their care as long as we could if we had not moved to Japan. Our son is now going to his new preschool which made us realize what a wonderful and safe environment he was in at Little Scholar. His current preschool is much different which was shocking to us, because we were so used to the Little Scholar way. A day at Little Scholar Preschool is filled with stimulating and engaging programs, both inside and outside, rain or shine, with group and individual activities. And every Friday, our son came home with so many arts he handcrafted during the week. Our living room quickly became his art gallery and we enjoyed looking at them and talking about them. Another important thing Little Scholar offers is sense of security. Because he felt secure and was so comfortable and loved Little Scholar, we believe he was not afraid of going to a new environment.
