Reviews & Testimonials

"Thanks Maggie!  Thank you all for everything.  You guys have been wonderful with Thomas this past year.  He has learned and grown so much and because of all of you, I believe he will excel greatly in kindergarten.  He will miss you and all of the friends he has made.  Have a great day and again, thank you for everything!" --------- Amanda D. of Millbrae (August 2018)

"My younger son currently attends Little Scholar Preschool and he started about 8 months ago.  My wife and I appreciate very much the joyful and positive environment provided by the school.  My son enjoys going to school every day, and he has learnt and improved quickly in various areas:  communication, manner, art, music, languages, general knowledge, etc.  Also, we can see the kids at the school learnt about basic discipline, listening to direction and helping one another.  We also like the small class environment which allows excellent attention by the teachers.  Last but not the least, all teachers are very friendly, professional and passionate about teaching young kids.  We would strongly recommend Little Scholar Preschool." --------- Sam C. of Millbrae  (March 2018)

"Our son is one of the younger children in the school and he as learned a lot since he started at Little Scholar Preschool.  After a few weeks, he was speaking words that we weren't expecting him to know.  We were delighted to see him sing songs he learned from school and made friends with an older classmate.  The teachers at Little Scholar were also very patient with my son as he had a difficult time during school drop off in the first few months of school." ---------- Mak family of Millbrae  (March 2018)

"Thank you Little Scholar Preschool for the incredible experience you provide.  We have seen our shy and reserved (2 year old) toddler transform into a confident and intelligent boy!  We would absolutely recommend this school to family and friends." --------- Wale family of Millbrae  (March 2018)

"I would absolutely recommend Little Scholar Preschool to others.  The teachers provide a safe & fun environment with the right balance of play & education."  --------- A. C. of San Bruno  (March 2018)

"Little Scholar Preschool provides a safe and fun environment in which my child learns and grows academically and emotionally.  In addition to Mother Goose Time (curriculum), my child learns about Japanese and Spanish languages and cultures, adding more cultural awareness to everyday learning.  Little Scholar Preschool is a place where friendships are made and everyday is fun." ------- Abby V. of Millbrae (March 2018)

"Hi Maggie,
A BIG Thank you to you, Mitch and Lis for giving Xzavier a safe caring environment to learn, grow and make friends.  He's enjoyed his time there.  We will forever hold Little Scholar Preschool in our hearts!" -------- The Maza Family of Millbrae (August 2017)

"Hello Maggie and Mitch,
We want to thank you for the outstanding care and teaching you have provided our son Blake this past year.  He has thoroughly enjoyed his time with you all!  Blake will be attending kindergarten at Spring Valley in the Fall." ------- L. Slavik of Millbrae (August 2017)

"Dear Mitch and Maggie -
I just wanted to let you know that Hunter is doing amazingly well in Kindergarten. He is reading now, taking spelling tests and seemingly enjoying himself tremendously. His teacher says he is very focused in class and has courage to participate in discussion, even if he is not 100% sure if he has the right answer. I think so much of his success is attributed to the great skills and habits he learned at Little Scholar and I just want to again say thank you for creating such a wonderful environment for him.
All my best" --------- Anona of San Bruno (November 2016)

"I would definitely recommend Little Scholar Preschool to other parents.  It has been a great experience for our son.  We chose Little Scholar based on excellent recommendations from other parents in the Millbrae area.  Our son has attended for the past 2 years.  Little Scholar Preschool is a cozy environment for the kids to play and learn.  It's 12 kids, feels very nurturing and is more intimate than a large preschool.  Parents (looking for a preschool) should consider Little Scholar Preschool as our son thrived there." ----------- Pamela and Adam of Millbrae (September 2016)

"My daughter has been attending Little Scholar Preschool for almost a year now.  I am grateful to Mitch and Maggie for their dedication to the kids.  Without a doubt, they have absolutely created a warm and safe environment for children attending their preschool.  I was totally surprised until now that my daughter actually walk through the door every morning without wailing or tantrums.  In fact, she always look forward to attending school.  This is such a great relief for working mums like myself, feeling reassured all the time that your kid is in great hands!  Educating and growing kids are not easy, I must applaud both Mitch and Maggie for having done such an amazing work!  You guys rock!!" --------- Lan Fang L. of Millbrae (May 2016)

“Our daughter started at Little Scholar when she was 2 and has been there about a little over a year.  I would recommend Little Scholar to anyone looking for a fun preschool with exceptional learning programs.  At Little Scholar, our daughter has learned so many different skills such as singing, drawing, writing, dancing, Spanish, Japanese, and even making ceramics!  Every Friday, we get to collect all the arts & crafts she has done for the week and she has so much fun going over them with us!  Mitch & Maggie have excellent communication process where we get newsletter and learn all about what the kids are doing.  The fun, enriching and well structured environment that Mitch & Maggie provide is why we chose Little Scholar.” --------  M. Ng of Millbrae (February 2016)

"Both our children attend Little Scholar.  They have been happy there and learn a lot from the teachers.  They come home always telling us about the new things they are talking about at school (different themes each month).  They have exposure to dance and ceramics class throughout the year.  We feel that they are in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.  Our children are very different, but the teachers have helped both of them to adapt very well to school.  Our kids have even asked if we can have the teachers over for a play date!" ----------- J. Cheng of Millbrae (February 2016)

"When you learn something new every day from your 4 year old, you know that your kid is at the right place and under the care and guidance of right people.  The Little Scholar Preschool is just that and more.  All it's teachers – Teacher Mitch, Teacher Maggie and Teacher Lis are experienced, kind and humble people.  We would recommend the Little Scholar Preschool to any parent that is looking for a great preschool and daycare program.
Every child is different and has different needs.  More so when you come from a different nation and culture altogether.  We were lucky to find the Little Scholar Preschool of Millbrae for our son.  He was two when we came to the United States and knew only our native language, to some degree. He was confused, obviously, at a new place, with new faces and language.  We decided that he needed a full time preschool and daycare program where he can learn, play and grow.  He also required one to one attention at times.  The Little Scholar Preschool was a perfect fit for us.
Our son enjoys to go to his school every day, as there is something for him to look forward to every single day.  He loves his friends and teachers at school.  He speaks good English today and is comfortable expressing himself in English more than our native language.  That is tremendous progress in less than a year.  He loves to show his art work, painting, ceramics projects to us and to our friends who visit us.  He can explain what he did.  That’s fantastic.  It is great that the kids have got so much to do all under one roof.  He is going to stay there until he joins Kindergarten.
We can’t thank enough to what this school has done to our son.  We wish the school and the teachers many more years of good health and prosperity to help them continue their great service to the kids and their families." ---------- D. Abarajithan, A. Suganya of  Millbrae  (February 2016)

"All 3 of our children have attended Little Scholar Preschool over the last 9 years.  We have been very happy with the teachers and activities.  Our youngest daughter looks forward to preschool each day and loves to talk about the fun she has with friends and her music, dance and ceramics classes.  Little Scholar Preschool has provided a great foundation for our children as they transitioned to kindergarten." --------- S. Bourdet of Millbrae (February 2015)

"Our daughter has attended Little Scholar for 2 years now and we are very happy with the school and their program.  The ratio of teachers to kids is exceptional (3 teachers for about 12 kids), so the children are nurtured and looked after very well.  The program provides a good balance between learning to sit at circle time, doing art projects, playing outside and playing independently.  There are a variety of books, toys and activities that are available for the children to choose from during independent play time.  Our daughter enjoys the art projects and all the books.  Not to mention the great music and motion/ dance discovery classes.  The most impressive aspect of the school for me is how pleasant and well behaved all the kids at this school are.  We also really like all the other parents and have formed some lasting friendships.  We recommend Little Scholar to anyone looking for a wholesome, fun experience for their children." ----------- Smita S. of Millbrae (February 2015)

"Our daughter has been going to Little Scholar for three months now.  She started when she was a little over two years old.  The experience has been very positive for us.  Our daughter was still new to a group care environment as she had been mostly cared for by a nanny.  The transition was smooth and pleasant, thanks to Maggie, Mitch and Lis!  They are warm, caring and very experienced.  There are an impressive collection of fun toys and enriching activities daily to keep the kids engaged.  And there is a warm cozy feel of a big family.  She made friends quickly with the older children.  In the evening we love reading in the detailed report about what they did during the day, what she ate and what her mood was.  And on Friday we get to collect the artwork of the week!  On top of the fun and creative environment they provide, Maggie and Mitch are also very organized and have an open communication with the parents.  We feel that Little Scholar is truly an exceptional place and we are grateful to be part of." ----------- The Bhogadi family of Millbrae (January 2015)

"Little Scholar Preschool is a very special little school, and has been a great fit for our rambunctious 3YO son.  He has thrived in the calm and structured environment that Mitch and Maggie have created in their home.  The routines they have established to support the kids through entry, exits and transitions are a strong framework for a day filled with fun learning, songs, projects, movement, and play.  The kids are encouraged to be responsible, independent and self-sufficient - skills which they bring home with them, along with new songs every week and dance moves from their music & motion class.  The school offers many special things including Spanish story time, Japanese story time, regular librarian visits, ceramics classes, dance classes and a strong curriculum.  I love that when my son brings home his "work" for the week, he can tell me in detail about every single project and what he learned - the lessons are obviously taught very well and in a way that is meaningful to the children.  The kids at the school are just lovely and Mitch, Maggie, and Lis have done a wonderful job modeling and encouraging gentle and kind behavior - everyone at my son's school is his "friend" and he looks forward to playing with them every day.  I also really appreciate how organized and kind Mitch and Maggie are, how straightforward and prompt they are with their communications, and I love getting the newsletters, email updates and photo albums.  It is so clear from the photos how deeply engaged the kids are in everything they are doing at the school, and what a diverse range of things they are being exposed to.  As a working parent, there is nothing better than to see your child thrive under the care and guidance of others and I feel very lucky to have found this school for my son." -------- A. Dutton of San Bruno (January 2015)

"We would whole-heartedly recommend Little Scholar Preschool to anyone looking for a preschool!  Our daughter, Aubrey, has attended Little Scholar for just under 3 years and it has been a rewarding experience for all of us.  Mitch & Maggie, the owners and operators of Little Scholar, take pride in their work and personally care about the students, and it shows.  They have become very special people in Aubrey's life, and she often updates us on new songs they've taught her or funny things they did during our drives home.  Mitch & Maggie have a 'learn through play' approach to education that has worked really well for Aubrey, with lots of crafts, art projects, time outside on the enclosed porch and play equipment, Japanese songs, stories and art projects with Mitch, Music and Motion class with Teacher Grace, and Spanish story time with Teacher Lis.  In addition to the regularly scheduled activities, Mitch & Maggie organize many additional enrichment activities, including story times with the librarian Ginny from the Millbrae Library, ceramics classes with a professional potter, and an in-house visit from the Millbrae Police Deputy.  The space at Little Scholar is kept spotless, is well stocked with puzzles, toys, games, and costumes that are clean and in good condition.  Aubrey has become close friends with a number of the other children at Little Scholar, and we've enjoyed meeting the other families through play dates, birthday parties, and pick-up and drop-off times.  We looked at a number of other preschools in the area before selecting Little Scholar and have been extremely pleased with our decision.  Thank you Mitch & Maggie for your great service!  Sincerely," --------- Jamie & Anik of Millbrae (February 2014)

"We have looked at numerous preschools and we are very happy with our decision to enroll our son at Little Scholar Preschool.  We were looking for a preschool that will provide a clean, safe and nurturing environment for our child.  It was important for us to find a place where our son can learn, develop his skills and also have fun.  Little Scholar Preschool met all our expectations.  Our son loves going to school and is always excited to tell us about his day.  He has learned a lot for the past 9 months.  He has been learning new songs, some of which are in Spanish and Japanese.  He entertains us with dance moves he learned from his Music and Motion classes.  He is very proud to show us his projects weekly.  He has learned to consistently say "please", "thank you" and "excuse me."  We couldn't be happier with our son's progress and would like to thank Mitch and Maggie for that.  We highly recommend Little Scholar Preschool."   --------- Jen & Alex M of Redwood City (February 2014)

"We are so happy to have chosen the Little Scholar Preschool for our daughter.  She adores the school, the teachers and her friends.  She started going there at 2 years old.  She is now 3, and she has developed wonderfully.  Every day when I pick her up, she has a new song to sing to me.  She can count from 1 to 10 in English AND Spanish!  One day while driving, she asked me "Como estas?".  I love it!  She even knows a couple words in Japanese!  We couldn't be happier.  Thank you Teacher Mitch and Teacher Maggie!"  --------- The Purugganan family of Millbrae (February 2014)

"Our son was at Little Scholar for the past 1.5 years and we cannot recommend it highly enough.  Maggie and Mitch, together with their assistant teachers, Lis and Grace, provide a wonderful program in a clean, warm, safe and nurturing environment.  The program has a different theme
each month with related art projects, songs and stories so the day is well structured and we feel that he has thrived with this routine.  Our
son was always excited to jump out of the car and run to see his friends and start the day.  We have learnt many songs from him, in English, Japanese and Spanish!  There is also a lovely outside space where the children can play rain or shine, water plants or look for bugs.  I was very fortunate to be able to read to the children once per month which gave me the opportunity to be with them in the school environment.  They are a lovely group of children; well-behaved, well-mannered and most importantly, all very happy.  It was the highlight of my month!  We have had to move out of California for work and so our son’s time at Little Scholar has now come to an end.  We are incredibly sad to leave and his new preschool has made us realize what a very special place that Maggie and Mitch have and we will never forget it, or the friends we also made in the other parents.  We know that the little boy or girl that takes our son’s place will be very fortunate, and extremely happy." --------- The Williams Family (August 2013)

"Our son has attended Little Scholar since Aug 2011, when he was 2, and we plan on keeping him there until kindergarten.  We are extremely happy with the teachers, the program, and the other kids/families, and we recommend Little Scholar wholeheartedly.  Maggie, Mitch, and their assistant teachers provide an outstanding preschool program in a small and nurturing environment.  Little Scholar provides the level of exposure to outdoor play, imaginative play, and preschool education that you expect from a high-quality preschool.  What we see Little Scholar also providing that makes it truly special is that they also do a great job building habits of good citizenship and kindness.  The curriculum is probably best described as "play-based," which is in line with our overall parenting philosophy (and realistic given our active boy).  The Millbrae children's librarian comes every other month for a visit, and one of the teachers leads a really great little music/dance class every Wednesday.  There are various other enrichment events as well.  The curriculum is always evolving and we have learned things from our son that he picked up at school!  We are also just so happy with the community we've found in the other families whose children attend Little Scholar.  The kids are smart, funny, well-behaved, and excited to get to school in the morning.  The group is fairly ethnically and religiously diverse. We've made some great friends by getting to know the other parents in the group - all very normal, nice, smart, interesting people.  Overall, we recommend Little Scholar Preschool to anyone considering sending their child to this school."  --------  H Family of Millbrae (February 2013)

“After a long search for daycare arrangements for our 3-year old daughter, we found the perfect place: Little Scholar Preschool & Daycare in Millbrae.  This is a community of children and parents under the superbly, qualified leadership of Maggie and Mitch.  We appreciate so much, including  the nurturing approach, the size of the school (about 12 children), the learning projects (including great artwork and music), the exposure to Spanish and Japanese, the student diversity, the daily feedback reports, the newsletters, the home atmosphere, the outdoor play area, the open house (opportunity to see what’s going on at the school and meet other parents), and the heartwarming celebrations of birthdays and other holidays.  We highly recommend Little Scholar.”  ---------- Farida & Jahiz of Millbrae (February 2013)

"Our daughter has only been at Little Scholar for about 2 months now but she loves her school and her friends. She looks forward to going to school every morning.  She was with a nanny for 2 years and was unable to adjust at a bigger school because she is a bit shy.  But we had a great experience at Little Scholar and she was excited about school within a few days of starting.  The adult to child ratio is much better than what we saw at other schools and our daughter felt comfortable and taken care of.  Maggie and Mitch provide the right balance of warmth and love while teaching the kids to be independent.  The kids play and explore, spend time with arts and crafts, music and dance and are very very happy.  Our daughter comes home excited to read books and dance to music.  We love that Little Scholar feels like a home and we would definitely recommend it to other parents."  -------- Smita S. of Millbrae (February 2013)

“I really appreciate the care given to my (5 year old) Daughter Tari over the last 8 months or so.  Your core program is exceptional.  My daughter couldn’t share her days at Little Scholar enough with us on a daily basis.  Which, as a father, makes me proud to know she enjoys getting an education and this hopefully translates into a lifelong love for learning.  Her social and literary skills improved exceptionally while under Little Scholar’s care.  I just wanted to personally thank you on behalf of the Patania Family.  I would be more than happy to refer you to friends and families in the future as I’m a firm believer in your program.”  -----  Zachary Patania of San Bruno (May 2012)

“We highly recommend Little Scholar Preschool & Daycare for parents looking for a nurturing environment where kids are loved & respected while learning & having fun.  We always felt that our son was in a safe, clean, respectful, stimulating and caring environment.  For the last 3 years, we have watched him learning all sort of great things that he is always proud to talk about on the drive home.  Teacher Maggie & Teacher Mitch have created an excellent program that provides a balanced mixture of individual & group activities.  They are both very patient & nurturing with an excellent, constructive communication style.  Their facility is well maintained & is very safe, clean & organized at all times.  This cleanliness, in addition to teaching
the kids good hygiene habits, has minimized the incidence of colds & health problems for our son.”  ------  Marcelle and James of Foster City (January 2012)

"A wonderful care environment where children have constructive learning and play.  A comfortable place where children are allowed to be themselves and encouraged to grow, be safe and have fun.  Our little boy was always happy when we picked him up and he always liked to discuss what he learned during Circle Time." ----- Chris and Stacey F. of San Mateo (August 2011)

"These past 2 ½ years have been a wonderful journey for our daughter.  We have witnessed her growth in your care, and know that she has been tended to kindly and professionally.   It is fun to hear her proudly brag about the various activities and projects, especially finger painting and growing seedlings.  We appreciate your dedication to the environment you have created.   You have been efficient with your communications, and have fulfilled your duties as promised.  Little Scholar is a great and lasting name." ----- Keith B. of Daly City  (December 2010)

"We want to sincerely thank you for all the care and guidance you have given our daughter and we want to let you know we really appreciate the care and dedication you put in teaching the children.  Her LOVE for books and reading is also clearly something she has brought home from Little Scholar.  She is very organized, expressive, self-sufficient, and an independent child, thanks in a large part to your guidance.  These are great foundations to build further upon in her future scholarly path." ----- Pauline Mai of Daly City  (December 2010)

“We have loved our experience at Little Scholar Preschool & Daycare.  Both our sons have attended since they were toddlers.  Teachers Mitch and Maggie have created a warm and nurturing environment for all the kids.  After 4 years, we consider them to be part of our extended family and our 2.5 year old looks forward to going to “School” each day like his big brother.  We are lucky to have found a daycare and preschool that is essentially an extension of our own home – both in nurturing and learning!” ----- S. Bourdet of Millbrae  (May 2010)

“Our son has been at Little Scholar Preschool & Daycare for a year and a half and we have been very happy.  The school itself is very clean (all children are required to wipe their hands before entering the day care) and our son rarely gets sick.  They have done a great job with their house and it is very child-proof, I can’t remember my son getting hurt while attending the day care.  Most importantly, it a great environment for learning and our son really enjoys it!  We highly recommend Little Scholar Preschool and Daycare.” ----- Eva W. of San Bruno (May 2010)
